Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles have been friends for a long time now. They even train together at the World Champions Center under the same coaches Cecile and Laurent Lendi. Chiles recently opened up on the relationship she shares with multiple-time Olympic gold medalist, claiming that she is a ‘little sister’ to Biles.
Jordan Chiles used to train in Washington earlier. With the Tokyo Olympics around the corner, she moved to Texas to train alongside Biles at the World Champions Center. Since then, the two gymnasts have been training together under Laurent and Cecile.
After Biles withdrew from several events at the Tokyo Olympics following the ‘Twisties' incident, Chiles rose to the occasion and helped Team USA win the silver medal. She was a constant support pillar for Biles in Tokyo, and has claimed now that the Olympic champion is her ‘bestie’, and she is her ‘little sister’.
Speaking with FOX News in an interview, Jordan Chiles expressed her admiration for Simone Biles. She talked highly about the bond they share.
"Biles and Chiles … we love each other so much. … That's my bestie. We're Biles and Chiles for a reason. She's definitely proven a lot within her time of her comeback era. She won core classics. She's done amazing things at world (championships). She has all these medals. I'm beyond proud", she expressed.
"I'm that little sister. … I will give her all her flowers, her crown, whatever it needs to be", the 23-year-old added.
Biles won the Laureus Comeback of the Year award in 2023 after a remarkable comeback at the World Championships in Antwerp. She now eyes an Olympic comeback, a redemption to sweep every medal she missed out in Tokyo. Meanwhile, Chiles claimed her ‘bestie’ was also her ‘superhero’.
Stepping into Simone Biles' shoes was ‘stressful’ for Jordan Chiles
Simone Biles withdrew from multiple event finals as well as team finals at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Replacing her was Jordan Chiles, who got a lifetime opportunity to compete on uneven bars and balance beam in the team finals.
Speaking with Fansided in an interview recently, Chiles claimed it was very ‘stressful’ for her to step into the shoes of Biles.
"Being able to step into someone's shoes, so big… that was stressful.” Chiles said. “I was meant to be in that position, and I was meant to be put in a challenge like that for a reason. That's why I was on the team.”
However, the 2022 World Champion shone big time, helping USA win a team silver in Simone Biles’ absence. That performance has boosted her confidence and she is ready to compete for gold in Paris this summer.
