Simone Biles said that she has been blocked by MyKayla Skinner on social media. The American gymnast recently wrote a caption directed at Skinner, after the women's team won the all-around gold in Paris.

Biles' note mocked a controversial statement made by Skinner during the US gymnastics Olympics trials.

When Biles, Jordan Chiles, Suni Lee, Hezly Rivera, and Jade Carey qualified for the Paris Olympics at the US trials, Skinner criticized the team. Her statement seemed to question their talent, saying just Biles was the exception.

"Besides Simone, the talent and the depth just isn't like what it used to be," Skinner said. "I mean, obviously, a lot of girls just don’t work as hard. The girls just don’t have the work ethic. Some of the other girls that fell twice and still ending up in second place in the all-around is just kind of crazy to me."

Days after this statement, Biles and her team won gold in the team all-around finals. She then shared her Instagram post with this caption:

"Lack of talent, lazy, Olympic champions❤️🥇

Following this post, Biles shared a statement on X, claiming that she had been blocked by Skinner.

"Oop I've been blocked👀🫢😂"

Chiles confirmed the blocking with an Instagram screengrab:

"When she blocks Simone."

MyKayla Skinner apologized for taking a dig at Simone Biles and the team

After Skinner criticized the US team on her YouTube live, she faced strong backlash from Biles and the rest of the gymnastics ecosystem. She then apologized for her comments and said her statement was misinterpreted by everyone. She deleted the YouTube video and wrote:

"I feel like a lot of you guys had misinterpreted or misunderstood exactly what I was meaning or had said," MyKayla said. "A lot of the stuff that I was talking about wasn't always necessarily about the current team, because I love and support all the girls that made it and I'm so proud of them."

She further stressed on her intent of not hurting anyone:

"Sorry for anything that got out of context or seemed hurtful. Throughout the video, I was so pumped for the girls and it was so fun watching trials and doing a live with everybody.”

The controversy has now stirred up again after Skinner blocked Biles.
