American wrestler Bo Bassett expressed his feelings on the achievements he has had so far in his career. Bassett navigated an impressive season in 2024 which saw him win the Ironman Wrestling tournament in the 144kg category.
He defeated Sunnyside's Carlos Stanton by a tech fall to win the final match in the bracket for Bishop McCort. Besides the Ironman tournament, Bassett also claimed the Who's Number One wrestling event in 2024. As this successful year concluded, Bassett opened up about the journey he has had in this little tenure.
In a recent Instagram post, Bassett shared several glimpses from his wrestling tournaments. In the caption, Bassett expressed gratefulness for his achievements in his wrestling career which includes being a three-time Ironman and Super-32 Champion.
Additionally, he stated that he is looking forward to the journey ahead and also wrote a message for his doubters. He wrote:
"Blessed to be a 3x Powerade, 3x Super 32 & 3x Ironman Champion! Grateful for every moment, every challenge, and every victory & defeat. This journey has been filled with hard work, faith, and incredible support."
He further added:
"The season’s far from over, and I’m more motivated than ever for what’s ahead for my team. BTW- To the doubters: I am 18 and my birthday is August 25, 2006. Thanks, you fuel my fire, but my gratitude lights the way."
Notably, Bo Bassett has also won the 2021 U17 World Championship, and the 2021 Cadet World Wrestling Championship (45 kg bracket) apart from bagging the Pennsylvania Junior Championship eight times in his career.
Bo Bassett explained his situation before choosing a collegiate team for the future
16-year-old Bo Bassett opened up about his preferences before choosing a collegiate team. He visited several prominent universities for professional visits including Oklahoma, Michigan, and Ohio State.
In an interview with wrestler Bobby Lashley, Bassett stated that he is kind of open to opportunities to join a collegiate team. Additionally, he also stated that he has not committed to a team. Speaking in an episode of Bobby Lashley's Phenoms to Legends podcast he said:
"I am open, so we did the whole thing where we posted a big graphic and I posted like every division one and couple of division two schools on there. Just to kind of show that I am open, like I am not locked into anywhere." [9:22 onwards]
During the podcast, Bo Bassett also mentioned that his family has also been deeply involved in this career-defining decision.
