American sprinting phenom Brittany Brown had a total fangirl moment following her meet-up with the legendary television producer, screenwriter and director Shonda Rhimes at the Athlos NYC meet.
Brown participated in her maiden Olympic Games this year in Paris, where she competed in the 200m event and secured a bronze with a time of 22.20 seconds. Following that, she was invited to the Athlos NYC meet; an all-women competition created by Reddit co-founder and Serena Williams' husband, Alexis Ohanian.
The 29-year-old registered victory over the reigning Olympic champion Gabby Thomas over the 200m distance. She won the race in 22.18 seconds, 0.03 seconds faster than Thomas, who finished second with a time of 22.21 seconds.
Earlier, Brown also finished second in the 100m event with a time of 11.05 seconds. For her remarkable performance, the California native took home $85,000 in prize money and was awarded a Tiffany & Co. crown.
Besides her track prowess, Brown was starstruck when she met Shonda Rhimes, the creator of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, The Scandal, Grey's Anatomy, and more. Rhimes shared a wholesome video of Brown on her Instagram story that captured her excitement of the encounter.
"She is amazing! Love her!!! @_brittanyshamere," Rhimes wrote in the story

In another story, Rhimes shared a picture with Brown reposting it. Rhimes wrote:

Brittany Brown conveyed her heartfelt gratitude to fans who gathered in New York City to support the athletes. She also shared her excitement for the changes happening in track and field and expressed her pride in being a part of it.
"The first inaugural event for all women, I’m just really appreciative of everyone supporting us women," she said. I feel like this sport is really changing and growing,” Brown said.
“I’m excited to be a part of it. This is a whole new event. We tried something new. I’m happy to be a part of trying." (As quoted by NBC Sports)
Brown also appreciated the efforts of the organizers for their commitment to making things happen rather than just discussing ideas.
