American distance runner Sara Hall expressed her excitement about competing in the 2024 Valencia Marathon, also known as the Maratón Valencia Trinidad Alfonso Zurich. She made the announcement following her participation in the Chicago Marathon 2024 last month.
The Valencia Marathon, which is a World Athletics Platinum Label Road Race, is set to take place on Sunday, December 1. The event will feature top-tier athletes from across the globe, including Ethiopia's three-time Olympic champion Kenenisa Bekele, Megertu Alemu, Sisay Lemma, Hiwot Gebrekidan, and Sabastian Sawe.
Hall, the 2011 Pan American Games champion, is the latest addition to the lineup for the Valencia Marathon.
In her statement about the marathon, the 41-year-old sensation expressed gratitude to her sponsor, Asics, for their continued support throughout her distance running journey. She posted a picture on her Instagram handle, posing alongside Lemma, Sawe, Bekele, and Alemu with the following caption:
"I get to race another marathon tomorrow! 🇪So excited for another chance to test myself at @maratonvalencia . The roads look beautiful & I’m looking forward to sharing them with all of you! A huge thanks to @asics for supporting my journey for 2️⃣0️⃣ (!!) years now and to @ryanhall3 for being by my side for 4 marathon buildups this year—that’s a lot of biking. Can’t wait to lace up my Metaspeeds and let it rip! Vamos!!"
In October, Sara Hall participated in the Chicago Marathon and placed ninth among her American counterparts with a time of 2:30:12.
Sara Hall reflects on fatigue of running for extended period - "I think at some point like a big break"
During her post-race interview after the Chicago Marathon, Sara Hall revealed that she feels really tired due to the intense buildup leading to the race. She further mentioned that she is in need of a big break, although she is excited for her upcoming races.
"We have some ideas going in, she said. But definitely I feel pretty tired from this buildup, so I think at some point like a big break, but I think I'm really excited even though this race didn't go how I wanted to, just like how my body handled the training, so I'm really excited for the next buildup."
