American freestyle wrestler Carter Starocci shared his excitement for Penn State's 2024-2025 wrestling season. The team recently unveiled its upcoming schedule, commencing with its wrestlers competing at the NWCA All-Star Classic on November 16 set to take place at their home venue, Rec Hall.

Besides Starocci (184 lbs), Penn State’s season-opening campaign will see Beau Bartlett, Shayne Van Ness, Tyler Kasak, Levi Haines, and Greg Kerkvliet compete in the 141 lbs, 149 lbs, 157 lbs, 174 lbs, and 285 lbs. Starocci is one of the most successful wrestlers in NCAA history, having collected four consecutive titles in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024.

After missing out on the USA’s Paris Olympics squad and not being able to wrestle at the Big Ten Championships due to injury, Starocci announced his return to Penn State for his fifth and final season in a bid to become the most decorated NCAA wrestler of all time. He shared the news via Instagram, delighting his and Penn State’s fans.

Starocci wrote:

“Even though this season ended with me on top of the podium (fourth NCAA title), I was not satisfied. I'm here to take over. With one year of eligibility left, I want to end my collegiate career on my terms. Healthy, in style, and in a dominant fashion. With this in mind, I'm excited to announce that I will be returning to Penn State to bring another national title to State College, Pennsylvania.”

As Penn State gears up for its first tournament for the 2024-25 season with the announcement of their schedule, Carter Starocci took to his Instagram story to show his anticipation.

“5.5 weeks. The more you win the more you should work harder," he wrote.

Carter Starocci, who has competed for Penn State in the 174 lb category for four seasons, will now be seen in action in a higher weight category, 184 lbs.

In an interview with centredaily.com in September 2024, the 23-year-old reflected on his journey, likely referring to his injury recovery and transition to a higher weight class. He stated:

“I’m brand new and a lot better, so I think things are almost like a blessing — because they lead you down a path and, with that path, you get so much better in certain areas you weren’t hitting on. So, for me, it’s been a new leap in a better direction. I’m excited.”

Besides this, some other notable accomplishments of Starocci are being a two-time Big Ten champion and the 2022 U23 World Championships bronze medalist.
