Fans expressed dissatisfaction with the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony. The event started with international artists such as Lady Gaga performing on a boat in the Seine River followed by team parades.

The Greek team was the first squad to enter the Seine River as has been the tradition since the start of Games in1896. Following them was the Olympic refugee team and then other countries, whose order was selected alphabetically with the names pronounced in French. Earlier, a burst of white and red smoke kicked off the ceremony representing the national flag of France.

The arrival of the Greek delegation was followed by a performance from Lady Gaga. The glimpses of the nation's tradition and culture were shown in between boats parading through the Seine.

However, fans online expressed dissatisfaction with the confusing nature of the ceremony, some even calling it the worst opening ceremony of all time. Fans were of the opinion that the ceremony lacked a professional quality, lamenting that it looked low-budget and cheap at times.

"opening ceremony looks so bad. it looks so cheap and unrehearsed. the daylight and the sloppy camerawork don’t help either," a user wrote.
"I’m actually embarrassed on the behalf of France, this is going down as the worst opening ceremony in history," another user wrote.
"This is the lowest budget Olympic Opening Ceremony ever, can France ever do anything right," a fan commented.

A fan claimed that the London Olympics opening ceremony was still the best in history while multiple others called the Paris worst.

"London collectively breathes a sigh of relief as we still have the best opening ceremony," a fan wrote.
"Just because you can film Gaga performing on an empty riverbank with Samsung phone and broadcast it via 5g from a boat doesn’t mean you should," a fan taunted.
"this is the most WTF opening ceremony I have ever seen," a user commneted.

While most of the 592 members of the American delegation led by flag bearers LeBron James and Coco Gauff were spotted at the Paris Olympics opening ceremony, there was a notable absence of some big stars including Simone Biles.

Along with Biles, the entire USA Gymnastics squad was missing from the ceremony. The organization announced the decision to skip the ceremony to prepare for the qualification rounds they are scheduled to compete on July 27 for men and July 28 for women.

Some of the American swimmers were also absent including Katie Ledecky. The 27-year-old is scheduled for a big clash in the 400m freestyle on July 27 and cited preparations as the reason for her absence from the Paris Olympics opening ceremony.
