The Chicago Marathon is scheduled for Sunday, October 13, and is bound to be a thriller. One of the world's most highly anticipated races, it brings out the best of the best as they chase glory.
Chicago's revered course is known for its fast nature. This is where the late Kelvin Kiptum set the world record of 2:00:35 last year. This time, runners and spectators will honor the Kenyan’s memory with a moment of silence at the start line. Participants will also wear a memorial sticker on their bib.
This iteration of the Chicago Marathon is set to feature more than 50,000 runners. The men's elite division will star 33 runners, with the likes of Birhanu Legese and Amos Kipruto expected to lead the pack. On the women's side, 2021 and 2022 champion and 2023 runner-up Ruth Chepngetich will be a heavy favorite to cross the finish line first and reclaim her title.
With that, here's everything you need to know about the upcoming Chicago Marathon 2024.
