Christian Coleman lauded fellow Olympic sprinter Sha'Carri Richardson as the latter received an ovation at the Cowboys Falcons Game in Georgia. The 100m reigning world champion lit up the screen, shouting out the Falcons' "Rise Up" slogan to match the game's energy.
Sha'Carri Richardson made her Olympics debut at the Summer Games in Paris, three years after losing her Tokyo Olympic bid in the wake of a positive drug test. In 2024, the 24-year-old won the silver medal in the 100m and gold as part of the 4x100m relay.
Recently, Richardson returned to her home track and received a heartwarming honor from the Dallas Independent School District Board of Trustees, who voted to name a track after her at the Dallas ISD's Kincaide Stadium owing to her Worlds and Olympic success.
"It’s an honour, but it also shows that I have a responsibility to Dallas and DISD. I think people forget where I come from and that’s Dallas. That’s where I get my heart. That’s where I get my mind-set," the Olympian said. (via Dallas News)
On November 3, 2024, she attended the Week 9 matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and the Atlanta Falcons. The Olympic silver medalist was spotted on the stadium's video board, shouting 'Rise Up' to side with the Falcons team despite being a Dallas native.
The six-time World medalist Christian Coleman, who was also in attendance, quoted Richardson's iconic cheer on the field's video board and posted on his Instagram story:
"RISE UP!!" Coleman captioned the story.
Christian Coleman sent out a congratulatory note to Sha'Carri Richardson after her Paris Olympics silver medal win
Christian Coleman faced back-to-back heartbreaks in the 100m and 200m at the 2024 US Olympic trials. Having finished fourth in both his races, the 28-year-old ended his Paris Olympic bid.
Despite not advancing to the Paris finals, Coleman was full of praises for Richardson after she clinched the 100m silver behind St. Lucian sprinter, Julien Alfred.
"We are witnessing history, The greatest.. just keep watching," his Instagram caption read.
Ahead of the 2024 Diamond League season opener in Xiamen in April, Coleman admitted to being a fan of Sha'Carri Richardson for her ability to take women's sports to newer heights.
"I mean she is special. And I think she is somebody who is in the forefront of women's empowerment and women's sports and just taking it to a whole different level," Coleman remarked.
He further added:
"She's a beast within her own right and she's a special talent, and I think she's someone who's going to continue to propel the sport forward and be able to take it to new heights and I'm a fan too."
The two also accompanied each other to the basketball finals at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
