Christian Coleman reacted to Sha'Carri Richardson working out in the gym as year-end nears. Coleman and Richardson both competed at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where the latter made two podiums.
Sha'Carri Richardson walked with the 100m and 4x100m relay gold from the 2023 World Championships in the build-up to the Olympics. As a top-seeded 100m athlete, the Texas native competed in the 100m in Paris but failed to surpass Saint Lucian sprinter, Julien Alfred. She then guided the American 4x100m relay team to victory alongside Gabby Thomas, Twanisha Terry, and Melissa Jefferson.
On the other hand, Christian Coleman was scheduled for the men's 4x100m relay competition at the 2024 Summer Games but faced a disqualification for a baton handover mishap.
As the holiday season ushered, Richardson and Coleman hit the gym together, as Star Athletics posted on Instagram. Training with the latter under Dennis Mitchell at Star Athletics Track Club in Florida, Coleman expressed admiration for her as she flaunted her workout routine in the gym and took the track with teammates Melissa Jefferson and Twanisha Terry.
Richardson's Instagram post caption read:
"Heart bigger than my body"
Coleman's comment read:
"Hard"
Richardson kicked off her 2024 season with a 100m gold-winning feat at the Prefontaine Classic. She defended her title at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships before making waves at the US Olympic Trials.
Coleman, the 60m world record holder, won his forte event at the World Indoor Championships earlier this year. His rivalry with fellow American sprinter Noah Lyles also made headlines this season.
Sha'Carri Richardson: "I always wear my heart on my shoulders"
Of the several brand shoots Sha'Carri Richardson, her debut on the Essence cover in December was the highlight. She tried several glamorous looks to show herself as a track athlete embracing feminity and softness. In a conversation with the publication, Richarson shared that she is emotional, feeling all the motivation from fans and family and training on the track to get the adrenaline rush before her races.
“I always wear my heart on my shoulders; I always walk with my heart,” she says. “My heart is my brain. My emotions are my superpower, and at the same time, they’re my kryptonite. I cannot walk into a race without fully feeling the emotions from training, or the emotions from the motivation, or the inspiration I get from my fans, my family," Richardson said.
"So when I walk out onto the track, that is what my heart is filled with, and that is the adrenaline that gets me going. As soon as my foot, my spike, hits the track, my heart confirms that I am exactly where I’m supposed to be and who I am," she added.(via Essence, December 10, 2024)
Richardson will soon take the track for the 2025 season in the build-up to the 2025 World Championships.
