Several athletes including Coco Gauff and Allyson Felix congratulated Gabby Thomas upon receiving the USATF Jackie Joyner Kersee Award on her 28th birthday. The Georgia native was honored with this award on Saturday during the USATF Night of Legends.
Thomas won this award for her amazing season which helped the Georgia native finish first in the Women's 200m World Athletics rankings. She was impressive at the 33rd Summer Olympics where she topped the medal charts among US track athletes with three gold medals.
These performances gave her an edge over Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, Masai Russell, Tara Davis-Woodhall and Valarie Allman to win this annual award. Thomas took to her Instagram handle to share a celebratory video in which the track athlete celebrated this feat with the prestigious award and a birthday cake.
In the video, Thomas wore a black sparkling dress as Childish Gambino's "Do Ya Like" was heard in the background.

One of Thomas' track idols growing up, Allyson Felix reacted to the post and also wished her for her birthday. She wrote:

Gabby Thomas shares some kind words for the young children at the USATF Night of Legends 2024
On the stage of the 2024 USATF Night of Legends Ceremony in Orlando, Gabby Thomas shared a pep talk for small children and asked them to dream big in their careers and not get bogged down due to these aspirations. She said (via USATF):
"To the young girls and boys who might be watching believe in yourself. When I was a young girl, I had big dreams too, dreams that oftentimes scared me because I felt like they were too far away. But here's what I want you to know, you are far more capable than you can imagine."
During this event, Gabby Thomas also met the former six-time Olympic medalist, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, and also shared a moment with her.
