Former 400m US national champion and 2022 4x400m relay World Champion, Talitha Diggs recently announced that she had graduated from the University of Florida summa cum laude. As she shared the news, various track and field stars dropped by the comments section to show their support for the American.
Diggs first signed with the Florida Gators in 2021 and immediately made a name for herself. While she impressed with her performance on the collegiate circuit, the runner also competed and won medals at major national and international competitions. In 2022, she was crowned the 400m national champion before going on to win the 4x400m relay World Championships gold. In 2024, the American participated at the World Indoor Championships, winning silver in the 4x400m relay.
Now, Diggs has completed her time at the University of Florida, graduating summa cum laude. She shared the news on Instagram, and her fellow track and field athletes were quick to extend this congratulations. Noah Lyles’ fiancé Junelle Bromfield wrote,
“Congratulations beautiful.”
Two-time Olympic bronze-medalist Alison Dos Santos commented with the fire and heart emojis, while Jamaican triple-jumper Jaydin Hibbert reacted with the heart eyes emojis.
Olympic silver medalist Annette Nneka Echikunwoke and long jumper Yanis Davis also extended their congratulations to Talitha Diggs.
Talitha Diggs pens note about her journey at the University of Florida
As she graduated from the University of Florida, Talitha Diggs took some time to reflect on her journey at the University. Taking to Instagram, she penned a small note, writing,
“2 degrees for the price of none. #studentathlete. Graduating from a top 5 public university with one degree in International Studies with a concentration in Asia & another in Political Science! earning a 3.8 GPA, receiving the highest honors distinction of Summa Cum Laude, and closing this chapter of my life!”
She went on to thank the University and her ‘support system’, writing,
“I have grown so much on this journey and I wouldn't change a single thing. Thank you @gatorstf & @floridagators. My time here has been a blessing. Thank you to my support system for showing up for me at graduation and each step of the way! I loveeeee you all THANK YOU LORD AND THANK YOU FLORIDA #gogators #bestschoolever.”
Talitha Diggs’ time at the University of Florida saw her win the 2022 NCAA 400m Outdoor Championships, the 2022 NCAA Indoor 400m Championships, as well as the 2021 and 2023 SEC Indoor 400m Championships.
