After an impressive 2024 season that saw him win silver at the Paris Olympics, Adam Peaty has now returned to the pool for 2025. The Brit recently announced that he has begun preparing for the upcoming season at the same place that was his training base for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Peaty is one of the most dominant sprint breaststroke swimmers of all time, having won three Olympic and eight World Championships gold medals. He won his maiden Olympic gold in the 100m breaststroke at the Rio Olympics, his debut at the Games. Four years later he successfully defended his title, making him the first British swimmer to achieve this feat.
Now, Adam Peaty has returned to the pool as he looks to dominate the competition for yet another year. Taking to Instagram, he announced that he was training at the Repton Swimming Club for 2025, writing,
“First week back at training. I've chosen to return to @reptonswimming under coach Jamie Main. It's a place that I've spent many years already and I couldn't think of anywhere else to continue my career (it was my training base for the Rio 2016).”
“It's also a place where we have ran lots of @apraceofficial clinics and we're always so impressed, especially, with their investment in sporting excellence. One set from 2015 back in the day with @melmarshallmassive just reminding me of all the fond memories I have there. Time to get to work,” he added.
Peaty’s move to the Repton Swimming Club comes after his former coach Melanie Marshall relocated to Australia last year.
Adam Peaty reflects on his 2024 season
For Adam Peaty, 2024 was the year of a successful comeback. After spending most of 2023 sitting out of competitions as he struggled with his mental health, the Brit made a roaring return to the pool last year.
He kicked off his 2024 season with a win in the 100m breaststroke at the 2024 Aquatics GB Swimming Championships, subsequently qualifying for the Paris Olympics. At the Games, he claimed a silver in the event, tied alongside Team USA’s Nic Fink.
As he begins the new year, Peaty reflected on his achievements in 2024, writing on Instagram,
“2024 you have been a year full of learning, growth, risk and love. It's been the most incredible year and I'm so fortunate to have the life that I do. We never know what is around the corner and what card life has for us next. I thank the people who I'm surrounded by because they are the most loyal, trustworthy and most importantly, funny people I could ask for.”
“Thank you to all the people that continue to follow my journey as both an athlete or human, I am not retiring so i look forward to my new training program and base in 2025. We don't stop when it gets tough, we stop when we are done. Have a great and happy new year!”
Over the course of his career, Adam Peaty has won a total of six Olympic medals and 12 World Championships medals. He is also the current world record holder in the 50m and 100m breaststroke events.
