Gabby Thomas recently slammed a fan who questioned her education. The athlete is presently gearing up for the upcoming 2025 track season.
The American concluded her 2024 season after competing at the Athlos NYC in September. Ahead of this, she competed in the Paris Olympics, winning three gold medals. Following this, she went into her off-season, where she visited NBA and NFL games. She also landed several brand deals, including the SI swimsuit.
Amid this, she received a comment from one of her fans, taking a dig at her education. The user posted a tweet on X, which read:
"Gabby Thomas doesn't sound like she's the brightest out there."
Reacting to this, Thomas replied:
"You’re probably right 🤷🏽♀️ 😂 darn my Harvard degree," said Thomas.
The Olympic champion graduated from Harvard University in 2019 with a degree in neurobiology and global health. This proves her brilliance in academics, and not just this; she also proved her billing in track at the Paris Olympics, where she delivered exceptional performances in the 200m, 4x100m relay and 4x400m relay dashes.
Gabby Thomas opened up about how she got into Harvard University
Following a successful Olympic campaign, Gabby Thomas appeared in a podcast named "Why Not Me?" where she revealed her story about getting into Harvard.
"I remember actually reaching out to universities and their track programs, and I mean, they just hit me back with their standards. I reached out to LSU,'sorry you're not fast enough'; reached out to Florida, you're not fast enough," said Thomas.
"For me it was like okay I was a decent athlete and I was a decent student. I was not the best student like, I'll say it here first I had a couple C's on me transcript. I was a normal student, I did my work but by no means I was a genius."
She opened up on how she was balanced between the track and the classroom.
"I'm very much like everybody, but I did things well, I did my best, and I was very consistent and so I was consistently decent at track and I was consistently decent in the classroom," Thomas added. "During the application process and when I did my interviews, I showcased that I was a person that was eager to learn."
Gabby Thomas will next be seen competing at the track legend Michael Johnson's Grand Slam Track events, scheduled from April to September.
