Simone Biles recently received criticism from a gymnastics judge, Emily Chan, for her choice of floor music in her first 2024 Olympics trials. The American gymnast, who performed on "Ready for It" by Taylor Swift.

The judge believes Taylor Swift floor music is the worst. After Biles responded to her, the judge received severe backlash from fans and deactivated her account.

An internet user then said that Biles and her fans were the reason behind Emily being ‘canceled’ on social media. However, the American didn't agree and responded to the user, defending herself vehemently.

Simone Biles looked impressive at the U.S. Gymnastics Olympic Trials, winning the competition for the third successive time after 2016 and 2021. This season, she amassed a score of 117.225. In her floor routines at the Olympic trials, Biles used a mix of Swift's music, and while some admired it including Taylor herself, others didn't.

FIG Gymnastics judge Emily Chan claimed that it was the worst.

“Pains me to say that Simone has the worst floor music”

Biles had a quippy response:

Following the tweet, Chan ended up deactivating her account. An X user then hit back at Biles:

"Wtf just happened with Emily?! I just hope Simone flops hard now because her fans are insufferable and know no limits. CaCancelinger for saying the truth was already bad, but going after HER JUDGE LICENSE?? Her chorey and artistry are atrocious! Everyone can see it LMAO", they wrote.

Biles responded soon, saying she had just used humor to hit back at the ‘worst floor music’ post. The seven-time Olympic medalist also claimed that as athletes they had the right to respond to messages where they are being criticized.

"I was literally being funny & you’re just hateful. & if we as athletes come across a tweet that mentions us, we are allowed to respond. point blank," Simone Biles wrote.

A ‘Magnificent Seven’ member of the 1996 Olympic-gold-winning team, Dominique Moceanu, came out in support of Biles. She agrees that athletes have the right to respond to hate against them. Replying to Biles' post, the 42-year-old wrote:

"..but the notion "you're an Olympian, you should take the high road" has become such a tired cliché. It's a curious contradiction that the liberties of expression are celebrated for some, yet selectively denied to others", she replied to Biles' tweet.
