After a hectic 2024 that saw him become the youngest US male track and field athlete to win gold at the Olympics, Quincy Wilson is only getting better. The 16-year-old recently clocked a time of 1:17.19m in an indoor 600m race, leaving fans stunned.

For Wilson, the 2024 season began all the way back in January, with an impressive win in the 500m at the Virginia Showcase. From there, the youngster only got better, setting three U18 World records in the 400m between June and July en route to qualifying for the Paris Olympics. At the Games, Wilson ran the 4x400m heats, and was later crowned an Olympic champion when Team USA won gold in the finals.

Recently, the American competed in his first individual meet since returning from his debut Olympics, running at the U.S Marine Corps Holiday Classic. While there, Quincy Wilson clocked a time of 1:17.19s in the indoor 600m, the second fastest indoor performance in US high school history.

Reacting to his time, fans were left amazed, with one writing on X,

“Definitely a problem. And people was saying he was gonna peak early. Looks stronger as well.”

Another fan lauded the youngster’s endurance, writing,

“Geesus. He essentially has 800m strength with 200m speed. He ran a 22 and 48 split for 200 and 400. If he gets in the weight room and works on his form a bit more, he’ll crush the 400 during outdoors.”

Here is how other fans reacted to Quincy Wilson’s incredible run.

“It isn't even January yet. 1:17 is just insane,” one fan wrote.
“He just got it man,” another added.
“48.54 at 400m indoor. This kid is crazy good,” one X user enthused.
“The young Goat,” another chimed in.
