Fans were left disappointed after Lexi Rodriguez was absent from the NCAA Division 1 All-Tournament Team. After Penn State received the National Champion's trophy, NCAA Women's Volleyball released the 2024 All-Tournament Team featuring three players from PSU, two from Louisville, one from Pittsburgh, and only Harper Murray from the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers recorded a stellar feat against the Wisconsin Badgers on the way to the Final Four. The win marked their seventh consecutive and 12th under John Cook's tutelage. But they were beaten by Penn State in the semifinals, Penn then going on to beat Louisville in the final.
On December 23, the 2024 All-Tournament Team names were announced by NCAA women's volleyball.
Only Harper Murray from Nebraska made it to the Team, leaving fans querying senior Lexi Rodriguez's absence. One fan thought that Rodriguez's play over the whole season should have granted her a place. The fan said:
"Disappointed to not see Lexi. I know Nebraska didn't make it to the final but keeping the entire tournament in mind, Lexi should have been here."
Another fan expressed disappointment over the roster not including Merritt Beason and Rodriguez.
"No Beason or Rodriguez delete this"
Another fan had similar thoughts:
"No, Andi or Lexi ridiculous. Also, no Izzy. Umm nooo"
Here are some more fan reactions:
"Missing Andi Jackson and Lexi Rodriguez," commented a fan.
"Not too take anything away from the ladies on this list but how Lexi R. didn’t make this ALL TOURNAMENT team is a joke. Just goes to show how oblivious @NCAAVolleyball is unless you’re a hitter," another fan noted.
"Justice for Lexi," a fan added.
Lexi Rodriguez turns pro with League One's Volleyball Omaha team
After a successful season, Nebraska Huskers senior Lexi Rodriguez bid goodbye to her collegiate career and signed with League One Volleyball Omaha. Nebraska University announced this major news, asking IOVB to "take care" of Rodriguez.
"Take care of our girl, @lovboma. Alexis14Rod is staying in the Cornhusker state! She will debut her pro career with LOVB Omaha right here in NE."
The 22-year-old and three other Nebraska Huskers players received the AVCA All-American honors. The team thus matched the Pittsburgh Panthers as the only team to receive four honors. Joining the libero was middle blocker Andi Jackson, outside hitter Harper Murray, and setter Bergen Reilly.
The recognition was Rodriguez's fourth, bringing her into the same bracket as Kadie Rolfzen and Sarah Pavan as the only four-time All-Americans.
