Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, who recently surpassed her own 4x400m hurdles world record at the Paris Olympics, once opened up about the relationship timeline with her husband, Andre Levrone, in an interview. She revealed how he proposed to her for marriage.
The couple started dating in 2020 and got engaged in 2021. The sprinter opened up about the magical moment in an interview with The Knot. She revealed that Andre proposed to her while she was in Arizona celebrating her birthday with friends.
After she reached the hotel, the athlete received a card on the front desk from Andre apologizing that he couldn't make it to her party and had something planned for her on the lawn. He further surprised her with his presence there, waiting to propose to her for marriage. Sydney Mclaughlin-Levrone only thought about making the moment perfect, as she said that she kept thinking about not looking 'ugly' in the pictures, and it was a sweet moment for her.
"I honestly don't remember what we talked about," said McLaughlin-Levrone. "I kept thinking, 'don't fall, don't look ugly in these pictures.' It was so sweet and very surreal."
McLaughlin-Levrone took home two golds from the 2024 Summer Games, including the 400m hurdles and the women's 4x400m relay event. She clinched a terrific win in the 400m hurdles and clocked a world record time of 50.37s, surpassing her own record set previously during the 2024 US Olympic Trials. She trounced Anna Cockrell and her arch-rival Femke Bol, who clocked 51.87s and 52.15s, respectively.
Similarly, in the 4x100m relay final, she alongside her team, Gabby Thomas, Shamier Little, and Alexis Holmes, clocked an American record of 3:15.27 and stood atop the podium.
