In honor of his Paris Olympic success, Quincy Wilson received the USATF Youth Athlete of the Year and addressed the crowd on December 7.
"I want to take a moment to speak to everyone out there who's faced doubt or fear. One of my most important lessons I've learned is to never ever doubt yourself. Believe in yourself. It's the foundation of everything, whether it's sports, life, or anything you pursue. There were many times when I didn't know if I could make it, but I learned that if you trust yourself, keep working, and stay focused on your goals, the possibilities are endless."
He further added:
"We all face setbacks and challenges. There will always be times when the road feels impossible to travel, but if you believe in your abilities and keep pushing forward, you will rise above it all. Don't let fear or doubt define you. Stay focused, stay faithful, and always trust that the best is yet to come."
The Bullis School athlete started his 2024 season with the second-fastest all-time high school boys' 600m time at the Millrose Games. Quincy Wilson won the 400m in 45.76s, breaking the National High School indoor record time at the New Balance Indoor Championships. His time outpaced Tyrese Cooper's under-18 world-best time of 46.01s (ratified) set in 2017.
Quincy Wilson revealed that winning gold medals is better than attending a party
Quincy Wilson was added to the Dazed 100 USA roster for his stellar 2024 track and field season and Olympic success. Being at the peak of success at such a young age, Wilson revealed that parties don't drive him as winning gold medals in athletic events does.
"Being at the Games (Olympics) and winning a gold medal is way more fun that going to a party. I feel that a gold medal is going to last forever, that party is going to last for two to three hours. I am have that for life, all the other little things you are not going to have." (via Dazed Instagram)
