Non-binary athlete Nikki Hiltz recently spoke on Tara Davis-Woodhall and her husband, Hunter Woodhall, mentioning how they remain grounded despite their huge fan followings. Notably, Tara is an Olympic gold medalist and World Championships silver medalist in the women’s long jump, whereas Hunter Woodhall is a multiple Paralympic medalist.
Tara and Hunter gained huge prominence following the Paris Olympics and Paralympics, respectively, where they achieved their first gold medal at the quadrennial games. In her second Olympics, Tara clinched the gold with a best effort of 7.10m, while Hunter bagged his first Paralympic gold in the men’s 400m T62, running a time of 46.36s.
Nikki Hiltz, who was a member of the USA track and field contingent for the women’s 1500m at the Olympic Games, recently featured in the ‘Exes and o’s with Shannon Beveridge’ Podcast where they talked about how Tara Davis-Woodhall and Hunter Woodhall remain grounded despite the success, stating (53:26 onwards):
“They're also just such genuine people. They have massive followings and it's like I don't think it's gone to their head at all whatsoever like they're just so down to earth.”
Hiltz also shared an incident involving Paralympic star Hunter Woodhall which inspired them a lot.
“I went for a seven-mile run with him [Hunter] and some other Lululemon people and it was just like we got to the end and it was in Whistler Canada. It was like the coolest thing ever and we got to the end of this Trail and it was like this lake thing that you could jump in it, it’s like freezing cold water and we're all like yeah we're going to jump in," they said.
“Hunter is a double amputee so he's like ‘Okay, I'm going to take off my legs’ and just like watching him took his legs. He just went for seven-mile run took his legs off and scooched into the water. I was just like you're the coolest person ever like so bada** and so good at what he does and so dedicated, they added.”
Tara Davis-Woodhall, Hunter Woodhall, and Nikki Hiltz are all sponsored by Lululemon
Tara Davis-Woodhall and Hunter Woodhall, who exchanged vows in October 2022, became the brand ambassadors of Lululemon in May of the same year. A month later, Hiltz signed with the multinational athletic apparel company, becoming the first nonbinary, trans athlete to do so.
Since then, Nikki Hiltz has developed a great bond with both Hunter and Tara, often seen engaging and appearing on each other’s feeds on social media platforms. It is worth noting that Hiltz also had a decent Paris Olympics campaign on her debut Summer Games appearance as they finished seventh, clocking a time of 3:56.38.
