Elle Purrier St. Pierre announced her pregnancy, revealing the due date of her second son's birth on May 8, 2025. The American long-distance runner welcomed her firstborn son, Ivan, in March 2023 and participated in her second Games in Paris as a new mother.

After turning professional with New Balance in 2018, Elle Purier St. Pierre recorded strong seasons, breaking the American record for the indoor mile at the 2020 Millrose Games and the American record for the indoor two-mile in 2021, among other accolades. She made her Games debut at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, advancing to the 1500m finals but fading to tenth.

She repeated her feat at the 2024 Paris Olympics, finishing eighth in the finals. Months later, on December 20, 2024, the 29-year-old announced the due date of her second boy's birth with an adorable holiday-inspired family photo.

"Baby boy on the way, due the 8th of May!" St. Pierre's Instagram caption read.

Her firstborn son, Ivan, whom she welcomed with her husband Jamie St. Pierre in 2023, accompanied her to the Paris Olympics. After winning the 5000m finals at the US Olympic Trials, the Olympian revealed that the birth of her son made her realize that he was the piece missing in her life's puzzle.

"It was a hard decision to have a baby and put my career on pause,” she says. “And so now that I have done that, I just feel like this piece of me that was missing is now here. I feel more complete and so I'm more level-headed and happy. That’s just all around good for my career.” (via Time)
