European Athletics Championships 2024 Results: Karsten Warholm breaks championship record to win 400m hurdles gold | Day 5 

Day 5 of the European Athletics Championships 2024 witnessed two records broken, in the men's and women's 400m hurdles. The European Athletics Championships held at the Stadio Olimpico in Roma, Italy, commenced on June 7 and will conclude on June 12, 2024.

Day 5 of the European Athletics Championships featured multiple track and field events, including high jump, triple jump, 10,000m, javelin, and 200m. The 2020 Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Karsten Warholm secured the championship title in the 400m hurdles for the third time, including in 2018 and 2022.

He clocked a stunning time of 46.98 seconds to set a new championship record by defeating Alessandro Sibilio and Carl Bengtstrom, who registered 47.50 and 47.94 seconds, respectively.

Dutch sensation Femke Bol posted a striking 52.49 seconds in the women's 400m hurdles at the 2024 European Athletics Championships in Italy. To achieve this feat, she defeated Louise Maraval (54.23s) and her fellow teammate Cathelijn Peeters (54.37s).

Bol surpassed Sydney-McLaughlin-Levrone's world lead of 52.70 seconds, which she set at the 2024 Edwin Moses Legends Meet. The results of the final events of Day 5 of the 2024 European Athletics Championships are given below.
