The Italian middle-distance runner Nadia Battocletti dominated the women's 5000m on the home soil, clocking a stunning time of 14:35.29 to set a new championship record at the 2024 European Athletics Championships. She secured the lead with a tight gap over Norway's Karoline Grovdal, who posted 14:38.62.
Ireland's mixed 4x400m relay team, consisting of Christopher O'Donnell, Rhasidat Adeleke, Thomas Barr, and Sharlene Mawdsley secured the top position after registering a new championship record with 3:09.92, leaving behind the Italian team, who clocked 3:10.69. The Dutch squad, featuring elite athletes like Femke and Leike Klaver had to settle in third place with 3:10.73.
