Lindsey Vonn registered her best performance in her 2025 comeback season at the World Cup in Sankt Anton, Austria. The American Alpine skier finished fourth in the Super G with a performance of 1:18.75 and registered a sixth-place finish in the downhill race
The 40-year-old athlete was just 0.32s away from getting on her first podium in the Super G in nearly six years. Lindsey Vonn's teammate, Lauren Macuga, won the Super G to become the first American to clinch the title on the St. Anton mountain.
Vonn was elated by her performances over the weekend both in the downhill and the Super G and took to Instagram to express her thoughts. The former World Cup champion expressed how she was getting better every day in her professional comeback nearly after six years.
Moreover, Vonn expressed how she had a great time competing on the slopes of Austria.
"What a weekend!! 4th and 6th place in my second and third race back….every day it’s getting better. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported me, means a lot! Always have so much fun racing in Austria because they love skiing as much as I do … and because the Kaiserschmaren is amazing!! ❤️ (last picture)," she wrote.
Furthermore, Lindsey Vonn congratulated Lauren Macuga on her incredible win and announced her next race of the season.
"HUGE congrats to @lauren_macuga on an incredible first win today!!! 🥇💪🏻🇺🇸 the first of many!! On to @cortinaskiworldcup next weekend 💪🏻 let’s go @usskiteam 🇺🇸," she added.
Lindsey Vonn opens up about her performance in Austria
Lindsey Vonn spoke about registering her best performance of the season in a post-race interview in Austria. The American athlete expressed her happiness in improving steadily as she competed on the slopes professionally once again after six years.
Furthermore, she revealed how proud she was of fellow American skier, Lauren Macuga for winning the race at 22.
"It was a crazy run today. It was really bumpy, it was sunny, then it got dark," Vonn said. "But it was a really good step forward. This is something I am really proud of and I am also really proud of Lauren . It is really nice to be a part of such a fun team. It's great to see another American on top of the podium." Moreover, Vonn expressed how she has developed a lot of confidence from her initial performances this year and hopes to put forward a great performance in her next appearance at the Cortina FIS Ski World Cup.
