Quincy Wilson reflected on his 2025 VA Showcase loss to Andrew Salvodon in the 500m event with a positive mindset. Wilson came fresh off his history-making 600m victory at the US Marine Corps Classic.

His season-opening VA Showcase 500m performance in 2024 recorded the U.S. age-group No. 2 all-time mark, 0.02s shy of Will Summer's National High School record time. Vying to defend his title in the 2025 edition, Wilson lined up but faded to second after Andrew Salvodon outpaced him.

Reflecting on the race everybody expected him to win, the Bullis School alum addressed the crowd, saying that the loss didn't dim his hope of winning again.

"I've won this gold medal, I've won a lot of things, won every national championship that I've been in, things like that, but last weekend I ran my first track meet and I lost. Everybody had me planned out to win, everybody had everything out and I was supposed to win. I got beat, the dude that beat me broke the national record and things like that, went over the internet.."

Quincy Wilson continued his motivational speech, saying:

"At the end of the day, the guy that came out there that beat me said it doesn't matter who steps on that track, who steps on it against him, he's going to give them their best effort, and I feel like that's how it is today. Y'all both have the same record, y'all go out there and give them the best record."

Wilson was Captain of the Day at the Howard University vs. Morehouse College game.

Quincy Wilson made history as the youngest US male track and field athlete to win an Olympic gold medal (4x400m relay) in Paris. He has been making waves on the track since winning the AAU Junior Olympic Games title in 2022, continuing his excellence in the 2023 and 2024 events.

In an interview with CITIUS Mag, the 16-year-old shed light on his racing mindset, stating that his biggest fear is to face a loss.

"I feel like you are always going to get nervous. When you are a competitor, the biggest fear ever is to lose. My biggest fear ever that anybody could ask me 'What's you biggest fear?' is probably to lose. I don't like to lose and so anything that comes in where you could possibly lose I might get a little nervous."

Quincy Wilson will look to compete at the New Balance Indoor National Championships in March 2025.
