Riley Gaines refuted claims of winning a defamation suit against American actress and author Whoopi Goldberg. She came out on her X to defend the claims that she had pocketed $10 million for winning the lawsuit.
According to USA Today after conducting thorough research, Gaines has never sued Goldberg since the page that shared the case on Facebook was labeled a satirical website. The media outlet further noted no court records, ruling the news as fake.
Riley Gaines also came out to debunk the news that she had won a $10 million defamation lawsuit against the 68-year-old.
On her part, Goldberg is a huge fan of the current United States president Joe Biden and the news of losing the lawsuit was seemingly shared by a Donald Trump fan. Making her return to her show, The View, Goldberg shared her support for Biden, explaining that she does not care about what the president is unable to do.
"I don't care if he's pooped his pants, I don't care if he can't put a sentence together. Show me he can't do the job, and I'll say, okay, maybe it's time to go. He had a bad night the first time he went out and debated with Kamala Harris, and everybody wanted him to quit then," Goldberg said.
Seemingly clapping back at the Goldberg, the X user shared the tweet saying:
"Riley Gaines just won a $10 million defamation suit against Whoopi Goldberg. Score one for the good guys."
However, Riley Gaines has come out to rubbish the claims, noting that it is malicious news. She aimed a dig at Goldberg, noting that she is probably not worth a lot.
"As much as I would love to take Whoopi Goldberg for all she's worth (which probably isn't a lot), I didn't win a $10 million defamation suit. Fake news," she replied to the tweet.
"we were not asked for our consent" - Riley Gaines addresses the inclusion of trans athletes
Riley Gaines opened up about spearheading the campaign against the inclusion of transgender athletes in female sporting competitions.
Speaking to Newsweek, Riley Gaines reportedly called the inclusion of transgender women, "sexual harassment. sexual misconduct and sexual abuse," as the athletes were not asked for consent during her days as a competitor.
"If you look at this at the most basic level, we were not asked for our consent, we did not give our consent yet there was a naked man taking his clothes off inches away from where we were taking our clothes off," Gaines said via Newsweek. "I mean how else could you describe sexual harassment or sexual misconduct or sexual abuse?"
"That's quite literally what the NCAA and other organizations and people continue to put women through. The easiest way to explain it: How can anyone dispute that that is not sexual harassment?," she continued.
Meanwhile, Gaines was also vocal about an incident that happened to her in 2022, when she was a student at the University of Kentucky. Gaines finished fifth, tying with transgender swimmer Lia Thomas.
Thomas was given a trophy for the podium, while Gaines was told she'd receive hers via mail. At the same event, Thomas continued the hot streak, winning the 500-yard NCAA freestyle competition.
