Femke Bol claims she won't be running in a 100m event to let her brother hold the faster timing in the discipline

Femke Bol gets candid about her family members in the recent episode of Ignite podcast

The 2020 Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist in 400m hurdles, Femke Bol recently opened up about the support that her family has shown her over the years. The Amersfoort native also spoke about the funny banter that she frequently has with her brother regarding 100m sprint events.

Bol appeared on the recent episode of Ignite hosted by Josh Stone. The concept of the show is to bring out renowned track and field athletes from around the world and discover their stories.

During the show, Bol only spoke about the motivation that she has for competing but also got really candid about her family which has been her major backbone throughout her career. Moreover, she also clarified the reasons for refraining from the Women's 100m sprint discipline.

Bol stated that her older brother frequently asks her to stay away from the 100m sprint to protect his personal best in the discipline within their family (at 1:40):

"I also have an older brother, He's a really proud brother and keeps telling me every time we see each other a bit like Fem, don't run a 100m because I still have the PB of the family. So I won't be running a 100m."

Speaking about her parents, Femke Bol added (at 1:54):

"They always try to help me in the best way and always try to support me but also keep me on the ground and be realistic and know it's end of the day it's just track and you have a life around it."

With already a gold medal in her bag (Women's 400m flat), Femke Bol stepped up yet again for the Netherlands in the Women's 4*400m relay events. Bol was efficiently assisted by the likes of Lieke Klaver who clocked a run time of just 50. 26 seconds in her lap.

Running in the last split, Bol maintained a decent pace to comfortably remain ahead of her US counterpart, Alexis Holmes to take the Netherlands side to victory with a combined run time of 3:25:07. The US team consisting of Holmes, Talitha Diggs, Quanera Hayes, and Bailey Lear finished in the second position with a run time of 3:36:36.
