Ahead of the Diamond League final in Brussels, Femke Bol expressed her desire to lock horns with Keely Hodgkinson in a 600m race. The 2024 Diamond League final is scheduled for September 13 and 14, 2024, at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels, Belgium.
Bol will be seen competing in the women's 400m hurdles during the 2024 Diamond League final. She earned three medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics, securing gold in the 4x400m mixed relay, silver in the 4x400m relay, and bronze in the 400m hurdles.
During a press conference ahead of the final in Brussels, when asked whom she would like to challenge, Bol mentioned fellow European middle-distance runner Hodgkinson, stating her desire to run a 600m race against the Paris Olympics gold medalist.
Hodgkinson claimed the gold medal in the 800m after recording a time of 1:56.72 to surpass Tsige Duguma and Mary Moraa, who posted 1:57.15 and 1:57.42, respectively. Being a 400m specialized athlete, Bol acknowledged the long distance, stating she might have to plan the race thoroughly.
"I would actually love to run with Keely Hodgkinson in 600," Bol said. "We are good friends but it's a bit far so I have to think that through really well."
World Athletics shared this glimpse of the interview with the fans on social media and wrote,
"Any objections, @keely.hodgkinson? 👀"
To which she replied,
"None 🤝✨"
Bol challenged Hodgkinson following the electrifying 100m face-off between Mondo Duplantis and Karsten Warholm, dominated by the pole vaulter who clocked 10.37 seconds.
