Two-time Olympic gold medalist Eliud Kipchoge shared his advice for the competitors taking part in the 2024 Berlin Marathon. This comes just a month after his disappointing campaign at the Paris quadrennial event, where he failed to complete the marathon event.

The Kenyan marathon runner will also be absent from the Berlin event and will also not defend his title in the event scheduled to take place on Sunday (September 29).

Despite this, the Kenyan recently revealed his expectations from other marathon runners in the Berlin event. Speaking in an interview, Kipchoge said he is looking forward to watching a tough and hard-core competition in the Berlin marathon.

He said (via Olympics.com):

"They have my spirits and my energy, I expect most runners to get the motivation and try to push their limits, push their bodies and come up with good results. I will tell them fight on, fight on and, if you miss it today, you can try again tomorrow. "

During the interview, Eliud Kipchoge also said he wished to be present during the marathon as a former winner of the competition that completes its golden jubilee this year.

The Kenyan is one of the most decorated athletes to have competed in the Berlin major marathon and has won the competition five times across his decorated career, a feat that no other marathon runner has achieved.

Eliud Kipchoge, 39, competed in two major marathon events in this 2024 track and field season. However, the four-time Olympic medalist failed to win a single one of them.

His first marathon appearance this season came in Tokyo during the Tokyo major marathon event. He finished tenth in the event after clocking a run time of 2:06:50, as his Kenyan counterpart Benson Kipruto won the event in 2:04:02.

Next up for the Kenyan marathoner was the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he was looking to defend his title and clinch a third gold medal in his career. However, Eliud Kipchoge did not finish the marathon and thereby failed to clinch a single medal for Kenya in the quadrennial event for the first time in his career.
