Griffith Joyner began running as a child and quickly found success on the track. After a collegiate career that saw her win a national championship, the American went on to win silver at the 1984 Olympics. Further in the 1987 World Championship, she won 2 medals, a gold and a silver.
The defining moment of the sprinter's career came a year after her World Championships success when she clocked a world record of 10.49s in the 100m at the U.S. Olympic Trials. At the 1988 Games, Florence Griffith Joyner won both the 100m and 200m titles, setting a world record of 21.34s in the latter.

‘Flo-Jo: A Daughter's Love' was nominated in the 2023 Bronzelens Film Festival, the 2023 Charlotte Black Film Festival, the 2023 National Black Film Festival, and the IndieX Film Festival. The documentary received the Best Documentary Short Silver Award at the Independent Short Awards Film Festival.
