Richardson's withdrawal from the 200m finals at the 2024 Diamond League finals in Brussels leaves Carmelita Jeter, Shericka Jackson, and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce as the only double champions (100m and 200m) in the DL series. Having lost to her Paris Olympic rival Julien Alfred in the 100m, finishing a disappointing eighth in 11.23s, Richardson has decided to pull out of the 200m finals.
After her 2020 Tokyo Olympics setback, Richardson won the 100m and 4x400m relay at the 2023 World Championships. The same year, she secured her first Diamond League victory in Doha, having run the 100m in a meeting record. However, the 23-year-old didn't win a gold at the DL finals.
This year, Richardson competed in the final stop in Brussels against her Paris Olympic rival, Julien Alfred, but finished a distant eighth in 11.23s and withdrew from the 200m start list. The reigning world champion's absence and below-par performance left Carmelita Jeter, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, and Shericka Jackson as the only three Sprint Double winners in DL.

Jackson, the second-fastest 200m woman in history, won a silver and a bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympics and the 4x100m relay gold, 100m, and 4x400m relay bronze medals at the Tokyo Olympics. She competed in the 200m at the 2023 World Championships alongside Sha'Carri Richardson, ultimately defeating her with a time of 21.41 seconds
To conclude her season, Jackson won the 100m and 200m gold medals at the 2023 Diamond League finals, adding to her 200m win in the 2022 edition. The Jamaican withdrew from the recently concluded Paris Olympics in the wake of an injury.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, one of the greatest sprinters of all time, played a pivotal role in ushering in the golden age of Jamaican sprinting. She's clinched two Olympic gold medals and five World Championship golds in the 100m. Her silver medal in the 100m at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics made her the most decorated Olympian in the event
The Jamaican sprinter won the 100m at the Diamond League finals a record four times (2012, 2013, 2015, and 2022) and also claimed the 200m title in the fourth edition of the DL finals in 2013. Having announced her retirement earlier in 2024, the 16-time World medalist withdrew from the 100m semi-finals in Paris due to an injury.
