Former Louisville Cardinals player Anna DeBeer shared glimpses of her time at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse where she was present to enjoy the match between Indiana Pacers and Cleveland Cavaliers. This comes just a month after DeBeer concluded her collegiate career with the Cardinals.
DeBeer has joined the Pro Volleyball Federation (PVF) team Indy Ignite to start her pro career after being drafted by the side in November. She has bonded well with her new teammates and was also seen celebrating Christmas with them. She recently accompanied them to the NBA match.
The match eventually concluded with the Cavaliers taking the away win by a margin of 127-117. Notably, Donovan Mitchell secured 35 points and 9 rebounds during the clash for Cleveland while Pascal Siakam scored 23 points for the home team, Indiana.
The former Cardinals outside hitter took to her Instagram handle to share pictures from the match in her stories. In the post, DeBeer can be seen wearing a black leather jacket and a white t-shirt while Ignite's teammate, Nnedi Okammor poses with her for a selfie. Several other Indy Ignite players such as Caroline Crawford and Elena Scott also accompanied her during the match.
Anna DeBeer's Indy Ignite clinched a 3-1 win in their season opener against Orlando Valkyries. However, she couldn't make it to the team during this clash due to an injury. Ignite will be next seen in action on Thursday (Jan 16) against Grand Rapids Rise.
Anna DeBeer explained the decision to stay out of the 2024 NCAA finals due to injury
Anna DeBeer shared her thoughts on the injury situation that forced her to miss Louisville's NCAA Championship match against Penn State. Louisville eventually lost the match by a margin of 1-3.
In an interview after the match, DeBeer stated that she tried everything to participate in the NCAA finals but she would not have been able to compete to her full capability. The Louisville native further added saying she would have personally chosen a fit player in place of her for the match. She said (via WDRB News at 1:05):
"Tried everything we could but looking for a long-term my future pro career, it wasn't worth risking it and I wasn't going to be able to give 100% to give it all for this team. I'd rather have someone who can give their all out there rather than me being out there."
Anna DeBeer was a formidable part of the Cardinals after she joined the program in 2020. In the years that followed, DeBeer scored a total of 1493 kills and 1082 digs. Notably, she was also named the ACC Player of the Year in 2023.
