Former Nebraska Cornhuskers’ star Merritt Beason poses for mirror selfie in black leather jacket and blue denim jeans

Merritt Beason, a former Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball player, shared a photo of herself wearing a black leather jacket and light blue denim jeans. She also wore a printed t-shirt and accessorized the look with a neckpiece and small earrings.

She kept one of her hands inside her jacket’s pocket as she posed for the mirror selfie. Beason then took to her Instagram stories to offer a glimpse of her look.

In 2024, Beason secured her spot on the All-Big Ten First Team for the second successive year. Having transferred from the University of Florida after her sophomore year, the 21-year-old represented Nebraska for two years - senior and junior.

During her junior year, she had a total of 455 kills, 248 digs, 106 blocks, and 33 service aces. While, in her senior year, she further displayed her authority with an average 2.78 kills per set in 36 matches.

Alongside libero Lexi Rodriguez, Beason served as the co-captain of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, thus playing an instrumental role. However, she is now a part of the Atlanta Vibe, who picked the Husker as the team’s first overall pick in the 2024 Pro Volleyball Federation (PVF) draft in November.

Merritt Beason reflected on being part of the USA's professional volleyball league, the Pro Volleyball Federation (PVF). Beginning her pro career with Atlanta Vibe, she shared the most exciting aspect of becoming a part of pro volleyball league in the USA, saying (starting at 0:17):

“I think, obviously, Volleyball is a huge thing in Nebraska, and we [Taya Beller and herself] both got the opportunity to experience that. Just having the opportunity to play here in the States and continue that growth is so exciting and so exciting to be a part of.”

“I mean, we both get to be a part of the second season as a pro volleyball league in America, and just to be a part of the stepping stones that are being made and the progress that's being made in the sport is really exciting to be a part of,” she further mentioned.

During the interaction, she also discussed how Kayla Banwarth, the Atlanta Vibe’s head coach, has been a comforting presence. Notably, Banwarth had previously represented the University of Nebraska during her collegiate career.
