Fred Kerley has issued a strong message before taking the track for the 2025 season. Kerley was a member of the US track team at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he won the bronze medal in the 100m.

Kerley started his 2024 track season slow, forfeiting the 100m race at the New York City Grand Prix due to faulty blocks. He then finished third in the 100m at the US Olympic trials before repeating his feat at the Paris Olympics. He also coached pole vault world record holder Mondo Duplantis for the latter's 100m match-up with hurdler Karsten Warholm.

After ringing in New Year's, Kerley posted a snap from Turkey on his Instagram handle, paired with a strong message.

"Rising above the storm, one step at a time."

The two-time Olympic medalist was recently arrested after confronting the Miami Beach police officers. He was shunned with a Taser and later taken to the hospital before being transferred to the Miami-Dade County jail.

Following this incident, he was also charged with alleged domestic battery with strangulation and strong-arm robbery involving his wife, Angelica Taylor, stemming from an incident last year. (via CBS News)

Kerley's attorneys addressed the Miami Beach police case, saying:

"At this time, we look forward to working with the State Attorney's Office, helping in their investigation any way we can. And, we look forward to getting justice for Fred," said Yale Sanford. (CBS News)

However, his attorneys refused to opine on Kerley's wife's allegations.

When Fred Kerley's wife Angelica Taylor was asked to speak on his behalf on the bond court, she chose to press charges against the former for a domestic violence incident that happened in May 2024. Speaking to CBS News Miami, she said:

"When I was watching him go to the Olympics, knocking what he's done — it's just like nobody knows who he is. All I remember [is] trying to get up and he tries to grab my phone again, so I scoot it under me and he's standing over me at this point behind me and he takes his arm and he wraps it around my neck and he proceeds to choke me so hard that I can't gasp for air. And I'm not going to lie, at some point, I thought that he was going to kill me," Taylor said.

She then shared how the couple's daughter (then eight-year-old) also tried to rescue her from the situation. Taylor also revealed that Kerley refused to give her divorce despite repeatedly wanting it.

Fred Kerley has amassed five World medals, three golds, a silver, and a bronze. He holds a personal best time of 43.64s in the 400m, which makes him the tenth fastest man in history over the distance.
