Fred Kerley has posted a picture of himself for the first time after getting released from jail. The two-time Olympic medalist was arrested after a heated altercation with Miami Beach police before his estranged wife leveled domestic violence allegations against him.

Kerley shared a seemingly cryptic reaction with a sarcastic emoji on Instagram following his release from jail after posting multiple bonds on Saturday. The 29-year-old later shared a selfie from his room and looked in good health.

The American sprinter was arrested Thursday night on charges of battery against a police officer and resisting an arrest in Miami Beach. His stay at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center got extended after additional charges of domestic battery with strangulation and strong-arm robbery were brought against him on Friday.

The incident dates back to May 2024 involving his estranged wife, who has accused the sprinter of choking her. Kerley has maintained silence on both the cases so far and has been ordered to stay away from his wife.

While Fred Kerley was accused of taking a ‘fighting stance’ by police when not allowed to access his car, many argued that the sprinter had only taken the officer‘s hand away from his body. However, his wife Angelica Kerley stated that the incident made her rethink her decision after being called in to speak in Kerley’s defense.

“They asked me to be here and speak on his behalf, but I want to proceed on pressing charges against him," she said in court.
“Seeing the video of this recent incident and how like he was aggressive, it kind of made me think like he didn't feel any remorse for what he did to me. I know I have to think about my children but he didn't think about his children in that situation,” she told CBS News.

The mother of three also told the outlet that she had asked the sprinter for divorce multiple times but was denied.

Kerley, who won bronze in 100m at the 2024 Paris Olympics, was ordered to stay 500 feet away from his wife and paid two bonds of $5,000 and $7,500. His lawyers termed the accusations false including that he won't ‘grant’ her the divorce, saying the allegations were made by a ‘highly motivated and angry woman’.
