Gabby Thomas ran her first race after the Paris Olympics at the Athlos NYC meet. She competed in the 200m dash and attained the second position, garnering a lot of support from famous personalities of the track world, such as Allyson Felix, Alexis Ohanaian, and others.
Thomas emerged out victoriously at the Paris Olympics, where she won three gold medals, of which her first was in the 200m dash. She clocked an impressive time of 21.83s to stand atop the podium, trouncing Julien Alfred and Brittany Brown, who recorded 22.08s and 22.20s, claiming second and third place, respectively. Along with this, the American also won gold in the 4x100m relay and 4x400m relay events.
Days after these triumphs, the 27-year-old participated in the 200m discipline at the Athlos NYC meet, which was held on September 26 at the Icahn Stadium in New York. Here, she couldn't maintain her Paris Olympic winning streak and claimed second place after clocking 22.21s. She was trounced by Brittany Brown, who posted a time of 22.18s to nab the win at the event.
Following the win, Gabby Thomas shared a heartfelt note on Instagram along with a carousel of pictures from her race. The post's caption read:
"Grateful for the opportunity to race at @athlos last night. While every meet is a chance to push my own limits, this one really pushed the sport forward. Increased accessibility to watch, largest prize pot in women’s track, and our voices were truly heard. Proud of the work, the journey, and the amazing community that showed up to make this event possible. This is the best time I have EVER had competing. Let’s keep breaking barriers."
This grabbed the attention of multiple personalities from the track world, who lauded Thomas for her hard work and victorious performances throughout the year.
The founder of the Athlos NYC meet, Alexis Ohanian, praised Thomas for her role, commenting:
"You are magnificent. You played such a big role in galvanizing me to invest in track and I'll always be grateful for that. Have a well-deserved offseason and get ready for PHASE II of @athlos."
Following him, the former track and field athlete, Allyson Felix, also cheered for the athlete.

Gabby Thomas is now headed to an off-season, as this was the last meet of 2024 for the Olympic champion. The Athlos NYC meet was executed for the first time and featured a total of six events that had some of the best athletes squaring off for the title. Along with this, Megan Thee Stallion intensified the ambiance more with her electrifying performance at the end of the meet.
