Femke Bol is bidding farewell to December 2024 as she shared the highlights of her month amid preparations for the upcoming track and field season. The Dutch runner started her preparations in early November and said she was nearing race fitness.
Bol joined the viral trend on Instagram on Monday, '6 pics before December Ends', and shared the highlights from her month which included a date with boyfriend Ben Broeders. Bol shared a couple of pictures each from her training and outing with friends, also adding a mirror selfie alongside a picture with Broeders, who is an Olympic athlete as well.
The couple also attended the Sportgala 2024 together in December with Bol being crowned with the TeamNL Kids Hero of the Year award at the event.
Earlier on Sunday, Bol shared a positive update about her training and claimed she would be ready for races next week.
"Some testing between the training camps to see the progress 📈📊 One more week at home, before we’re back in the sun!," Femke Bol announced.
The Dutch athlete enjoyed a remarkable season in 2024, breaking the 400m indoor world record twice before winning three medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics. She anchored the Netherlands to the gold medal in the mixed 4x400m relay, silver in the women's 4x400m relay, and won the bronze medal in the 400m hurdles.
Bol also became only the second woman in history to break the 51-second barrier in the 400m hurdles, clocking a lifetime best of 50.95s at the Resisprint International 2024 and would now be hoping to register her first win against Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, who holds the world record of 50.37s in the event.
Femke Bol's boyfriend Ben Broeders cherishes Sicily vacation with Olympic champion
Although Ben Broeders didn't have as successful a season as Femke Bol, the Belgian pole vaulter played an important role in his girlfriends' success. The couple took off to Sicily, Italy, to enjoy the off-season together and were amazed by its serene beauty.
A few weeks after the trip, Broeders shared the highlights from their trip on Instagram and claimed that he was still daydreaming about the time spent in Sicily.
"First training cycle done and dusted! As winter sets in, I can’t help but daydream about sunny Sicily with incredible food, stunning views, and unforgettable moments. Fuel for the grind ahead!" he wrote.
The couple have been dating since 2021 and recently bought a home together in Heelsum, Netherlands.
