From fake invitation for intimate dinner to being surprised under white roses arch: All about Shaun White and Nina Dobrev's proposal timeline

Wedding bells are ringing for former American snowboarder Shaun White and Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev, following the announcement of their engagement. The couple announced their engagement on Wednesday, 30 October 2024, after dating for a long time since 2019.

In a delightful surprise to Dobrev, White sent a faux invitation from CFDA/Vogue, inviting her for a dinner with the magazine’s Editor-in-Chief, Anna Wintour. However, upon arriving at the restaurant, the Love Hard star was surprised to find only White and a photographer.

The former snowboarder popped the question in a private room under an arch of white roses at the Golden Swan restaurant, in New York City. The 38-year-old surprised the actor with a five-carat Lorraine Schwartz engagement ring.

Following the proposal, the couple was joined by their friends and family, who celebrated the memorable and joyful moment with champagne. The couple later realized that they hadn't eaten anything while delighting in the heartwarming moment and ordered Shake Shack and dumplings.

The Canadian actress shared a few glimpses from the intimate evening where they both looked stunning. While White opted for a black suit to complement the white roses in the background, Dobrev donned a black glittery dress with net leggings and heels. She completed her look with a long black coat and button earrings.

Sharing the picture, she wrote:

"RIP boyfriend, hello fiancé 💍♾️"

Shaun White attempted to propose to Nina Dobrev twice before finally popping the question

Five years after they started dating, the former American snowboarder Shaun White tried to propose to his girlfriend Nina Dobrev. However, he failed to nail the landing in the first two attempts.

The three-time Olympic gold medalist wanted to pop the question the first time to Dobrev when the couple was delighting during their summer vacation this year. However, his plans were derailed after Dobrev unexpectedly fractured her knee in a biking accident in May this year. She also underwent an ACL repair and injured her meniscus.

Following the incident, Dobrev and Shaun White were seen in the French capital attending the 2024 Paris Olympics, where the actress was seen wearing a cast on her leg. Later in November, White decided to again pop the question while they were embracing a quick getaway in Cape Town, South Africa.

However, it was also hindered as their friends kept asking about the proposal, leading to suspicion in Dobrev's mind, which would have ruined the surprise.
