League One Volleyball has announced $100 million in new funding ahead of its kickoff this year, secured from Atwater Capital, Ares Management, and Left Lane Capital. Establishing a grassroots network of youth volleyball clubs, the LOVB has now expanded to 58 clubs with more than 16,000 athletes across 26 states and 66 locations.
Founded in 2020 by Katlyn Gao, Peter Hirschmann, and Olympian Kevin Wong, League One Volleyball debuted on January 8, 2025. The new funding boosts it to over $160M, including investments from Olympic skiing champion Lindsey Vonn, 14-time NBA All-Star Kevin Durant, seven-time WNBA All-Star Candace Parker, and actress Amy Schumer.
The latest funding was raised on November 21, 2024. There were 19 total investors, including three main ones, over four rounds ($2.9M, $22.1M, $35M, and $100M). Vonn and Handler are the most recent. Based in the Greater Los Angeles Area in California, funding was raised through Venture - Series Unknown.
The second round of funding on September 22, 2024, attracted investments from Durant and tennis icon Billie Jean King, raising $16.75 million. Vonn, NBA All-Star Jayson Tatum, Schumer, Parker, and others, also contributed to raising $35 million for the league in the Series B funding round in 2023.
The league features six teams: Atlanta; Houston; Salt Lake City; Austin, Texas; Madison, Wisconsin; and Omaha, Nebraska. All the teams are members of LOVB Pro.
