Retired American alpine skier Lindsey Vonn has experienced her share of both highs and some lows throughout the summer. One of the major highlights for Vonn this summer was undergoing a partial knee replacement surgery.
Lindsey Vonn suffered from severe tri-compartment knee degeneration, with the lateral compartment causing the most pain. Despite undergoing preparatory surgery in July 2023 to delay knee replacement, Vonn struggled to enjoy a lot of activities due to her knee which she loved to do.
After thorough research and consultations with doctors, Vonn opted for knee replacement surgery, whose update she shared with her followers on Instagram in April 2024.
Only two and half weeks after her knee replacement surgery, Vonn graced the red carpet of the 2024 Laureus World Sports Awards in high heels as she looked gorgeous in a peach-colored dress. She was captured with Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Jude Bellingham in the event.
In May, she also attended the Miami Grand Prix 2024 where a day before she took practice laps with Red Bull Racing. Lindsey Vonn then made her appearance on the red carpet of the 2024 ESPY Awards, in a one-side full-sleeve yellow gown with a high slit and side cutout in July.
She traveled to Paris for the 2024 Summer Olympics, where she served as one of the torch bearers of the Olympic torch and contributed to Salt Lake City winning the bid for the 2034 Winter Olympics. She was also involved in activities like playing tennis, and surfing, among others.
The 39-year-old took to her Instagram to offer glimpses of the major highlights from the summer of 2024.
One of Lindsey Vonn's biggest lows this summer was her dog Leo's cancer diagnosis
One of the biggest lows for Lindsey Vonn which she experienced this summer was her dog, Leo, being diagnosed with cancer. She took to her Instagram to share this news with her fans and followers, adding:
“I got home from Paris and noticed some lumps that had formed around his lymph nodes and I took him in to the vet right away. Unfortunately we got a diagnosis of lymphoma.”
Vonn further revealed that Leo is receiving chemotherapy in the post and showing progress in the treatment, although he becomes tired.
Vonn adopted Leo before her second ACL surgery. Before adoption, Leo met with an accident after being hit by a car, which resulted in multiple screws being placed in his leg. Leo has since been a crucial member of the three-time Olympic medalist’s life for the past 11 years.
