Gabby Thomas addressed fans who showed concern over her indulging in sweet treats despite being a professional track athlete. Thomas confirmed that she balances her diet and takes multivitamins as well.
Thomas headlined the 200m roster at the 2024 Paris Olympics, winning the feat in 21.83s. She also won the 4x100m and 4x400m relay events and became the most successful track athlete in the 2024 Games edition. The Harvard University alum led the 200m line-up at the Athlos NYC but failed to clinch the top spot as fellow US athlete Brittany Brown outpaced her on the track.
Gabby Thomas has since updated her fans about her fashion exploits, event appearances, and commercial shoots, especially on Instagram and TikTok. In a recent TikTok video, she explained that athletes can also indulge in sweet treats and follow a diet plan, addressing fan concerns.
"The funniest part about being a professional athlete is that any time I eat something that's not bland chicken breast with veggies, people are like, 'You probably can't eat that, can you?' Or if I post a picture of me with an ice cream cone or something, all the comments are like, 'Gabby, you have to run, put that down'. And I'm like, I can eat it, so I'm still okay."
She further noted that all the athletes have cheat meal plans like her.
"I get it. Athletes have to eat clean, and I do eat clean, and I do get my nutrients, and I take a multivitamin and all the things. But your favorite runner loves a sweet treat. I don't know any athlete who doesn't love a sweet treat. I don't know any athlete who doesn't have a cheat meal. And for me, my cheat meals are multiple times a week."
The 27-year-old also shared that gummy candies before bed are a must for her.
Gabby Thomas unveiled that Pilates is an integral part of her training routine
During the 2024 Team USA Media Summit, Gabby Thomas candidly shared with Women's Health that she finds Pilates classes 'humbling', even though the routine is complex.
"Pilates is humbling. As an Olympian in that room, not being able to do a lot of the exercises that they're doing, you really realize how many small muscles that you don't activate every day."
She continued:
"My body goes through it during Pilates," she shared. "But it’s really good for me and my personal growth. It’s really hard, but it's also relaxing in a way, so it’s fun."
The three-time Olympic gold medalist shared how important water intake is, keeping in mind to hydrate her body.
