Olympic medalists Noah Lyles and Fred Richard collaborated as they shared glimpses of training in each other's sports. Reacting to this, several top athletes were left impressed and were quick to show their support.
Lyles and Richard have both found a large audience on various social media platforms as they try to grow their respective sports. The former returned from the Paris Olympics with the 100m sprint gold medal and a 200m sprint bronze medal. Meanwhile, Richard’s campaign at the Games saw him win bronze in the gymnastics men's team event.
Richard took to Instagram to share a post featuring Noah Lyles. In the post, the sprinter can be seen attempting a flip, and later the duo try out a track drill together. The gymnast captioned the post,
“Leveled up today, content coming soon @nojo18.”
Reacting to this collaboration, three-time Olympic champion Gabby Thomas wrote,
“Love this crossover.”
Lyles’ finance, Junelle Bromfield, reacted with some fire emojis while reigning pommel horse Olympic champion Rhys McClenaghan wrote,
“Fredrick doing the most.”
Fred Richard takes advice from Noah Lyles for his vault run-up
This isn't the first time that Noah Lyles and Fred Richard have joined forces. Prior to the Paris Olympics, the gymnasts turned to the sprinter for advice on how to improve his run-up to the vault.
In February, Richard FaceTimed the sprinter to ask for help, with Lyles immediately spotting ‘a lot of issues.’ The 100m and 200m World Champion then shared a training plan for Richard, which included 20m hill sprints, hill jumps, one-legged hill jumps, speed bounces, as well as a ‘reaction game’ that involved jumping up from a sleeping position and running on cue.
Richard shared this video on Instagram, writing,“The Olympic vault grind begins today.”
Noah Lyles responded in the comments section,
“Don’t worry buddy I’ll have you catching tickets in school zones.”
The 2024 season has brought incredible success for both Fred Richard and Noah Lyles. The former’ season saw him win silver in the all-around at the US National Championships, behind compatriot Brody Malone. He then went on to dominate the US Olympic Trials, finishing first in the all-around and horizontal bars, second on the parallel bars, and third on the floor. Richard wrapped up his season by helping Team USA win bronze at the Olympics.
Meanwhile, Lyles' season began indoors, as he won gold in the 60m at the National Championships. He then went on to win two silvers at the World Indoor Championships before winning the 100m gold and 200m bronze at the 2024 Games.
