Gabby Thomas posted a look in a black sequin dress on her birthday, December 7, 2024. Thomas was fresh off presenting at the Footwear News Achievement Award in New York.
Gabby Thomas had a stellar 2024 season, winning the 200m gold at the London Diamond League and stepping onto the Paris Olympic track as one of the top seeds. She made waves in the French capital, taking three golds in the 200m, 4x100m, and 4x400m relay events.
The 28-year-old concluded her track season with her appearance at the Athlos NYC not only as a 200m competitor but also as an ambassador of the Alexis Ohanian-hosted event.
On December 7, 2024, a few days before Christmas, Thomas celebrated her 28th birthday in a glamorous look. She donned a black sequin dress and applied a nude lipstick shade, lining the lips. Her auburn-colored tresses were left loose to complement her outfit and makeup. She uploaded an Instagram story of her outfit with the caption:
"Here we go"
Recently, the five-time Olympic medalist presented the Company of the Year honor to her partner brand, New Balance, at the 2024 Footwear News Achievement Awards. She shared the frame with the legendary track athlete Jackie Joyner-Kersee, tennis luminary Billie Jean King, and pop icon Rihanna, donning a chic layered black ensemble with a Philippa Bow Cape to accessorize her outfit.
Thomas received the Jackie Joyner-Kersee award as the top US female track athlete, in honor of her Paris Games success.
Gabby Thomas joined the legendary Michael Johnson's Grand Slam Track on its inaugural season
Thomas' personal best time of 21.60s in the 200m made her the second-fastest American woman in the event, behind Florence Griffith-Joyner. Her massive success on the track prompts her to test herself while competing against the fastest women in the world, the reason she gave for joining Michael Johnson's brainchild, Grand Slam Track, set to debut in 2025.
In her statement, Thomas let her feelings be known, saying:
"I am so excited to be joining Grand Slam Track, and partnering with Michael Johnson to give our sport the platform it deserves. Coming off of the Olympics, I want to continue testing myself and competing at the highest level against the fastest women in the world. Grand Slam Track allows us that chance in 2025." She also noted how Johnson's vision intrigued her and expressed anticipation to race in four Grand Slams next year.
"Michael’s vision is incredibly exciting, and I can’t wait to give the millions of track fans around the world even more chances to watch us compete. I look forward to seeing all of our fans at the four Slams next year.”
Thomas will be joined by her fellow 4x400m relay event participant, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, who was the first Racer to enter the Grand Slam roster.
