American Olympic champion Gabby Thomas shared her desire this week to possibly purchase an apartment in New York City after being mesmerized by its stunning skyline. She shared an image of the iconic skyline prominently featuring the Empire State Building. Thomas is currently relishing her downtime after winning three gold medals at the Paris Olympics.
The Harvard graduate participated in her second Olympic Games this year and became the Olympic champion in three different domains during the quadrennial event. She first secured a gold in the 200m discipline by defeating St. Lucia's Julien Alfred and then contributed to the US's 4x100m relay victory over Great Britain. Besides that, Thomas was also a part of the United States' historic 4x400m relay gold medal victory, where the team set a new American record with the second-fastest time ever in the event.
After wrapping up her 2024 season at the Athlos NYC, an all-women competition held in September, the 27-year-old went for a vacation in the Maldives with her boyfriend Spencer McManes, where she enjoyed some quality time. In the most recent update from her off-track activities, the Georgia native shared a captivating night view of New York City's vibrant skyline. The view was aglow with beautiful city lights, and the Empire State Building could also be spotted shining brightly in white light, surrounded by other skyscrapers.
Sharing the picture on her Instagram story, Gabby Thomas wrote in the caption,
"I may as well just get an apartment in this city"
"I'm on the trails, grabbing coffee" - When Gabby Thomas reflected on her life off the track
In an August interview with Vogue just after her gold-winning performance at the Paris Games, Gabby Thomas discussed her life outside of athletics and said she enjoys a relatively normal life in Austin. The runner also shared she loves to enjoy the city's food.
"Life for me off of the track is just very, very normal. I like to hang out with and walk my dog. I live in Austin, which is a very outdoorsy and chill, fun city to be in. I’m on the trails, grabbing coffee, going to all the lakes. Very normal, relaxing things. Austin also has a really great food scene."
When not running, Thomas volunteers for a healthcare clinic as a way to give back to her community. She shared that after retiring from athletics, she plans to continue working in healthcare.
