Gabby Thomas grabbed everyone's attention with her recent appearance at Vogue's Forces of Fashion event, alongside rapper Nicki Minaj. The American athlete is currently enjoying her off-season weeks after concluding her Paris Olympics campaign and wrapping up her 2024 season after competing at the Athlos NYC meet.
Thomas dominated the 2024 Summer Games by winning three gold medals in the 200m, 4x100m relay, and 4x400m relay events. She clinched her first gold in the 200m dash, where she clocked 21.83s, and trounced St. Lucia's Julien Alfred, who claimed second place, by recording a time of 22.08s. Following this, she and her teammates Sha'Carri Richardson, Twanisha Terry, and Melissa Jefferson stood atop the podium in the 4x100m relay, clocking 41.78s.
The 25-year-old won her third gold medal in Paris in the 4x400m relay, where she and her team, including Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, Shamier Little, and Alexis Holmes, clocked an American record of 3:15.27. Following this, she competed in the Athlos NYC event in the 200m dash, where she secured second place behind Brittany Brown by clocking 22.21s.
Weeks after her showing on track, the athlete is now enjoying her off-season to the fullest. She recently appeared on Vogue's fashion show, donning a stunning multi-colored long knit dress, pairing it with black-colored boots. Fashionbombdaily shared a few pictures from the event on Instagram, where Thomas was seen posing with the rap star Nicki Minaj, flaunting her Olympic gold medals.
Thomas also interviewed her during the event, and Minaj was mesmerized by the former's personality. Following this interaction, the latter took to her X account and opened up about her meeting with the American sprinter, writing:
"I love her. Congrats to her. First time meeting her. Loved her instantly."
Gabby Thomas on her mindset about competing at the Athlos NYC meet
Before the commencement of the Athlos NYC meet, which took place on September 26 at the Icahn Stadium, Gabby Thomas opened up about competing in the meet. She revealed her mindset while she ran a race and exuded excitement about being a part of the all-women track event.
"While I'm racing I'm in the zone, it is a flow state. I let all the training do the work, my muscles know what to do. My mind knows what to do," said Gabby Thomas. "Being deemed one of the fastest women on the planet is very surreal to me. Not something that I ever imagined for myself. Athlos definitely feels like an event where we finally as female athletes have some ownership, have some say. We have a big part in its creation. I'm excited!"
The initiative of launching a women-only track meet was taken by Reddit co-founder and Serena William's husband, Alexis Ohanian. Gabby Thomas was one of the first athletes to be selected to compete at the event. After the completion of her 2024 season, the athlete recently teased buying an apartment in front of the Empire State Building in New York.
