Gala dei Castelli 2024 results: Ackeem Blake defeats Tokyo Olympic Champion Marcell Jacobs in 100m, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn continues dominant run

The 2024 Gala dei Castelli witnessed remarkable performances from prominent track and field stars, held at the Stadio Comunale, Bellinzona, in Switzerland on September 8 and 9, 2024. The meeting, which took place over two days, was a part of the World Athletics Continental Tour - Silver series.

Ackeem Blake of Jamaica and the USA’s Tamari Davis clocked times of 9.96s and 10.97s respectively to win the men’s and women’s 100m races at the Gala dei Castelli as both breached the 10-second and 11-second marks. Blake also defeated the likes of Akani Simbine and Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Marcell Jacobs, who came second and fourth respectively.

Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, who is a two-time Olympic medalist including a gold in Tokyo, continued her impressive form in 2024 as she won the 100m hurdles with a time of 12.52s, narrowly defeating the USA's Grace Stark who recorded a 12.54s.

Rising star Sasha Zhoya from France achieved a narrow margin victory over the reigning Olympic champion Grant Holloway (13.23s) with a time of 13.22s in the men's 110m hurdles at the Gala dei Castelli.

In Final 1 of the 400m hurdles event, Clement Ducos beat two-time Olympic bronze medalist Alison Dos Santos, who clocked 48.78 seconds, as the French athlete secured a comprehensive win with a time of 47.94 seconds.

Ryan Crouser and Gianmarco Tamberi dominated in the men's field events with Crouser winning the shot put with a 22.25m throw and Tamberi clearing the 2.27m bar in the high jump. Meanwhile, local favorite Angelica Moser achieved a victory in the women's pole vault with a clearance of 4.64 at the Gala dei Castelli.
