Blake has been one of the most impressive Jamaican track athletes over the past decade with numerous Olympic and World Championships laurels. However, the 34-year-old recently made a bold remark as he termed himself as the greatest 200m sprinter.

In a conversation, Blake revealed that his coach Glen Mills had seen the potency in him to perform more formidably in the 200m distance. He also added that Mills' thought process helped him to do well over the 100m distance and run the joint second-fastest run of all time (9.69 seconds):

He said (via Good Morning Jojo Sports Show):

“Arguably, I am the best 200 meters runner ever, I think, arguably. I just know that Mr [Glen] Mills knew that I could have gone further so I’ll just leave it at that because I know he has his reasons and it worked out for me to run the 9.69."

Mills coached Yohan Blake from 2009 to 2019, a tenure that established him as one of the most successful track athletes in the Jamaican circuit.

Across his career, Blake has produced some good performances over the 200m distance. He clinched a silver medal in the event at the 2012 Olympics where he clocked a run time of 19.44 seconds to finish just behind his countrymate, Usain Bolt.

Blake is also the second-fastest 200m sprinter in history with a run time of 19.26 seconds. He produced this performance at the 2011 Brussels Diamond League meet.
