The 2024 Gold Coast Marathon was held on Sunday, July 7, in Queensland, Australia. The 2024 edition of Asics Gold Coast Marathon - World Athletics Label Road Race featured multiple events, including the Marathon, Half Marathon, Southern Cross University 10km Run, CPL Wheelchair races, Gold Coast Airport 5km, the Wheelchair 4km, and the Gold Coast Bulletin 4km and 2km Junior Dash races.

Day 1, i.e. Saturday, July 6, witnessed the action unfold in Half Marathon, Gold Coast Bulletin 2km Junior Dash, Wheelchair 4km, Gold Coast Bulletin 4km Junior Dash, and Gold Coast Airport 5km. Meanwhile, Day 2 presented CPL Wheelchair Marathon, Gold Coast Marathon, CPL Wheelchair, and Southern Cross University 10km Run.

The event saw approximately 30,000 runners take over the streets over the two days, surpassing the previous record of 28,199 from 2012.


Timothy Kattam secured the victory in the men's category of the Gold Coast Marathon

Timothy Kattam led the men's marathon category at the 2024 Gold Coast Marathon after registering a stunning time of 02:08.50. Competing in Australia for the first time, the Kenyan long-distance runner defeated Belay Tilahun from Ethiopia and Kiyoshi Koga from Japan, who clocked impressive times of 02:08:58 and 02:09:21, respectively.

Koga was followed by fellow teammate Naoki Aiba and Kattam's teammate Felix Kandie after posting 02:10:26 and 02:10:47, respectively.

The women's marathon category was dominated by Japan's Yuki Nakamura (02:24:22) after surpassing Kumeshi Sichala (02:25:25) and Visiline Jepkesho (02:26:17).
