Karsten Warholm opened up on the 400m hurdles race at the 2024 Oslo Diamond League.

The world-record holder ran shoulder-to-shoulder with Alison ds Santos before stumbling on the ninth hurdle. In an interview with the Citius Mag after the race, the Norwegian stated that he was feeling good until the eighth hurdle after which he changed his rhythm.

"I was like 'Damn I feel like I have control' you know. It's like I felt like okay these eight hurdles were you know almost flawless," Karsten Warholm said. "I was feeling really good so I felt like I was in control there and then I changed my rhythm to 14 which was my plan you know, a little bit untidy there," (at 0:40).

Further, he acknowledged the difficulty in making a comeback after clipping on the last hurdle. While embracing the mistakes he expressed his contentment with the performance.

"When you stumble the last hurdle it's pretty tough to come back from but still I felt like I managed to pull myself together and finish quite strong so when I looked at the time I was like damn with those mistakes, it's potential of course," he added.

Karsten Warholm's only win so far this season came at the Trond Mohn Games in Bergen where he triumphed in the 300m hurdles with a timing of 33.28 seconds.

He previously claimed the silver medal in the 400m hurdles event at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow after losing to Belgium's Alexander Doom in the final.
