He topped the lineup with 12.92 seconds to set a world lead on Day 4 of the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials. Holloway surpassed Jamal Britt (13.07) and Trey Cunningham (13.12) to advance to the semifinal round. In an interview with Citius Mag after the heats, on being asked when he knew he would clock a sub-13, he said:

"You don't. You just hope and pray when you feel the momentum at the end of the race, just hope and pray is what you want, and you look at the clock and you see what it is. It said 8.83 it had no allowance next to me. So I for a second I thought I ran 12.83 so I was about to throw everything and just be like I'm not doing it no more but now I'll be satisfied with the 92."

Grant Holloway will be seen competing in the final on Friday, June 28, 2024.
